LOMAX – SONIA MARY

SONIA MARY LOMAX née Kirkup Age 87, died peacefully of Covid-19 related pneumonia on Friday December 27th 2020 at Barnsley Hospital, South Yorkshire. Born and raised in East London, the daughter of Michael and Beatrice Kirkup, Sonia had four siblings : Audrey, Beryl, David and Peter. Sonia married John Lomax in 1955 and had two sons, Stephen and Christopher. For many years they lived in St. Albans, where Sonia worked as a Finance Secretary at Cadbury Schweppes, and then Harpenden in Hertfordshire before moving north post-retirement to Hoyland near Barnsley to be with their growing family. A beloved wife of 61 years to John, loving Mum to Steve and Chris. A cherished mother-in-law to Rosemary and Elaine and devoted Grandma to Jason, Faye, Daniel and Eleanor and Great Grandma to Theo. All her loving family and friends will dearly miss Sonia. A funeral service will take place at the South Chapel, Grenoside Crematorium, Sheffield, S35 8RZ, on 21st December at 1.30pm. Family flowers only please and donations if desired to be made to Alzheimer’s Society in memory of Sonia c/o the family.
