LOMAX -JOHN JOSEPH SHERLOCK Aged 84. Died peacefully after a long struggle with Dementia, on Wednesday September 7th 2016 at Highstone Mews Care Home in Barnsley. Born and raised in Rainhill, Lancs, the son of Joseph and Annie Lomax. John followed in his fathers footsteps working for United Glass Ltd as Quality Assurance Manager after graduating from the University of Sheffield, working at Porters Wood for much of his career. John married Sonia Kirkup in 1955 and had two sons, Stephen and Christopher. For thirty years they lived in St. Albans and then Harpenden before moving north to Hoyland near Barnsley to be with their growing family. A beloved husband of 61 years to Sonia, loving dad to Steve and Chris and a caring brother to his sister Elsie. A cherished father-in-law to Rosemary and Elaine and devoted Grandpa to Jason, Faye, Daniel and Eleanor and Great Grandad to baby Theo. All his loving family and friends will dearly miss John. A funeral service will take place at Barnsley Crematorium, Doncaster Road, Barnsley on 23rd September at 2.10pm. Family flowers only please and donations if desired to be made to Alzheimers Society in memory of John c/o the family.
