Published on 31/01/2013
Murphy Maureen Ann (Nee Plummer) Lost her seven year battle with cancer on the 18th January 2013, aged 68. Beloved wife, mother, nan, sister in law, auntie, cousin and true and loyal dear friend. Her passing has left a huge void in our lives and we will always love her and treasure her memory in our hearts forever. Maureen will particularly be remembered by all who knew her for her indomitable spirit as she took on the cancer with a ready smile on her face. What shone out was her immense bravery, fortitude and heroic cheerfulness in a fight in which she refused to contemplate defeat. She retained her wonderful sense of humour even to the end. Maureens 7 years of treatment involved countless numbers of doctors, nurses and staff and we are grateful for the care provided at Marie Curie and ward 11 together with chemotherapy and radiotherapy departments and Paul Strickland Scanner Centre, all at Mount Vernon hospital. The same goes for hospitals at St.Albans, Hemel, The Royal Free, Harefield and Watford. We would particularly like to thank and pay tribute to our oncologist at Mount Vernon Dr Mark Harrison whom we relied on and trusted implicitly throughout the whole 7 years, and whom we came to regard as a friend. Similarly our grateful thanks go to Dr Jill Bartlett for the care and kindness with which she treated Maureen towards the end. Thanks to Midway Surgery, particularly Doctors Cohen and Cannell, Jackie Walker, Shelley, Beverley and Tracey. Also thanks to the nurses at Ian Rennie, Grove House and the District Nurses. Our thanks also go to our kind neighbours, friends and everyone else for the wonderful support at this difficult time. Funeral Service to take place at St John Fisher Church, Dunstable Road, Redbourn, AL3 7PN on Monday 4th February at 10.30am followed by committal at West Herts Crematorium, High Elms Lane, Garston WD25 0JS.
