To kick off the fundraising, the charity has organised a sleepout outside the St Albans branch of M&S in St Peter's Street.
The event will take place from 7pm on September 15 until 5am the next morning.
Six women will take part in the sleepout, including representatives of London Road's The Great Northern pub.
St Albans Action for Homeless co-founder Lynn Dutton told The Herts Advertiser: "We are women of a certain age who need to make a big impact and feel the only way to do this properly is to sleep among our homeless.

"All we will have is a sleeping bag each, so if it rains we will get wet.
"We will eat at the food run with our friends, the Great Northern pub are cooking and also the landlords are sleeping out with us.
"Our residents in Hope House who once were homeless and slept out in St Albans will also be joining us."
