The number of days that Verulamium Park is used for events could be set to increase.
St Albans City & District Council has submitted an application to its own planning committee to increase the number of days that the park can be used for events from 28 to 56 per calendar year.
The temporary permission would expire in December 2024.
The park annually holds events such as the Comedy Garden, Pub in the Park, the Race for Life and the St Albans Firework Spectacular.

With a number of days used to prepare for, clean up after and set down events, the council has applied for more leeway.
No additional events - than those usually held in the park - have yet been announced.
A Planning and Design and Access Statement on behalf of St Albans City & District Council reads: "It is clear that the development will create more opportunities to bring the local community together; promoting and enabling social interaction.
"The development will also inevitably generate economic benefits through the sale of tickets, food, drink and other associated goods."
Not all St Albans residents are pleased with the application, with some fearing that more events could be allowed to take place.

One Hillcrest resident commented: "I object to some of the events that have been permitted to take place in Verulamium Park by the council in the past.
"Since there in no list or details of what events are planned I object to this application."
A noise management plan has been produced as part of the application, by acoustic consulting firm Auricl.
A number of 'noise control procedures' will be adhered to as a result.
These include informing local residents of each event's details, the assignment of a 'noise control person' and pre-event testing.
This noise management plan will be reviewed every 12 months and also following any event where complaints were received.
Residents have until Saturday, September 9, to comment on the plans.
The application can be found via the St Albans City & District Council planning portal, using reference 5/2023/1391.
