A 17-year-old boy from Hatfield has been charged and remanded into custody following a stabbing in St Albans.

Earlier today (Friday, October 13), the teenager was charged with two counts of wounding with intent to do grievous bodily harm and with being in possession of cannabis.

It comes after two boys, aged 16 and 17, were taken to hospital by paramedics with serious suspected stab wounds - although not life threatening - following an incident on Monday, October 9.

Oaklands College confirmed that both victims were students, and "retreated into the safety of the college" where they received treatment.

Herts police have confirmed that their alleged attacker is not a student at the College.

Police were called at around 3.41pm on Monday to reports of a disturbance involving a group of people outside the shops in Hatfield Road, St Albans.

Local officers were assisted by armed response colleagues, with support from the National Police Air Service and the ambulance service.

Detective Sergeant Paul Wadsworth, from St Albans Local Crime Unit, said: “I am hopeful that we have reassured the local community following this latest development.
