The Alban City School is set to install solar panels over the Christmas break, in an attempt to help tackle the climate crisis.
The Hatfield Road establishment has launched a fundraiser to raise money for the green electricity generators, with the solar panels set to be operational from January 2024.
Over £2,600 has already been raised by the school, with a target of £10,000 set.
Those who donate £50 or more will have their name added to a permanent display board in the school's entrance area.
The school also has an eco-committee featuring one student from each class, who introduce initiatives that aim to make the school more environmentally friendly.

Lizzi Hodgkinson, a parent and governor at Alban City School, said: "We are excited to be able to start generating our own electricity using a renewable energy source, and are looking forward to teaching the children about this and sharing the dashboard with them that will show how much electricity is being generated.
"Any surplus energy that is generated will be fed back into the National Grid.
"Solar panels have been on the school's 'wish list' for some time, so it's wonderful, as a parent and governor, to see it all come to fruition."
