St Albans City & District Council's planning committee has received plans to demolish a barn, stable and outbuildings for new homes in Harpenden.

The application, validated on December 4, would see two new properties constructed at The Grove Livery Stables, off Pipers Lane.

Parking and landscaping are included within the plans.

The statement continues: "The application site now makes little contribution to the significance of the listed building, but the nature of the buildings on the application is such that they do detract from the appearance of the wider setting of the listed building.

"The application proposal provides the opportunity to remove the existing poor-quality buildings and replace them with a sympathetic contained development which will enhance the site in a manner that is fully compliant with the national and local heritage policies."
