A consultation has been launched for approximately 100 proposed new homes on land near Harpenden train station.

A new station plaza and decked car park are included in the plans put forward by Solum - a partnership between Network Rail and Kier Property.

The development would take place on the current site of the station's eastern car park.

Andrew Atkins, development director at Solum said: “These plans will provide improved access to the station by car, cycling and on foot, new homes for local people and a new decked car park which will make parking easier and safer.

“We know from working on similar projects that there is increasing demand for affordable homes near to railway stations.

“The project is situated in an important location close to the town centre and we think the homes will appeal to younger people looking to stay in the area.

“We look forward to hearing the views of people living and working in Harpenden.”
