Plans have been submitted for seven serviced plots for self-build and custom housebuilding on Green Belt land.
An outline application for the area - between 84 and 108 Ragged Hall Lane, Chiswell Green - was submitted to St Albans City & District Council on Tuesday, February 6.
A design and access statement included within the application reads: "As was first mooted in the Conservative Party manifesto 2015, the self-build and custom housebuilding is a key element of the government's agenda to increase supply and tackle the housing crisis."
Two public comments have been made to the plans so far, with a resident of Cuckmans Drive stating: "This is Green Belt land and home to a variety of insects and wild animals.
"The footpath beside and beyond the site is used a lot by people exercising their dogs, taking their children to the woods and walking to St Albans.
