St Albans Liberal Democrat councillors have chosen their new leader following the retirement of Cllr Chris White.
Paul de Kort has been chosen, with the Harpenden East councillor having spent approximately 16 years in district politics.
His position as leader of St Albans City & District Council, along with other leadership positions, is due to be confirmed at a full council meeting on Wednesday, May 22.
Cllr Paul de Kort said: “It is an honour to be appointed by my colleagues. I am excited to spearhead the work of our fantastic team who are fully focused on keeping this district moving forward.
“I have been a resident in this district for 32 years, so I know what a great place it is to live and work.
