St Albans City beat Farnborough 2-1 in National League South

Saints won 2-1 at home to Farnborough in National League South, following up on their New Year's Day victory over Hemel.

It also made if five wins and one draw from the last eight games, lifting the Clarence Park side up to 10th and back to the fringes of the play-off race.

And the boss says that the improved form is a sign that things may finally be coming together for his squad.

Noble said: "It's two wins from two in 2024 and I'm delighted but that's also 16 points from the last eight games.

"We're in a good bit of form.

"I just think we are getting it a little bit more now. We had a lot of new faces this season, a big turnover of players and bigger than we would have liked.

"They are learning what we do but chucked in with that is a lot of injuries. We've never really had a settled squad on match days.

"I'm very happy with what we are doing at the minute. Long may it continue.

"Everyone is improving and we were absolutely superb for 75 minutes."

A penalty on the stroke of half-time from Dom Hutchinson and then a second on the hour from Mitchell Weiss meant an 89th minute strike from Farnborough's Ghandour was merely a consolation.

Noble had special praise for the first of those scorers.

"Dom was excellent," said the boss. "From their shape in the first half and how we wanted to set up, it kept him at home a little bit.

"But on the whole, since he's been here, he's been excellent.

"He creates problems for teams, he's a player who can beat you, one v one, and [against Farnborough] he had an end product with it.

"He has in other games as well and he has performed really well since he's been here.

"Not only that, he would look at himself as a winger but some of the defensive work Dom did for us was excellent.

"Defending and attacking is equally important. Yes, he scores the goal but two or three things he did in our own box was superb."

There was also a pat on the box for Dan Bowry, back in the squad after injury and playing against Boro as right back.

Noble said: "It's great to have Dan back. Whenever any of our players come back, it's a big lift.

"And he is playing slightly out of position but he likes to get on, which he does even if he is playing centre-half.

"I'm not always happy with that but I stuck him out there and let him do what he likes to do.

"Another assist and very similar to his assist [against Hemel]. It was a lovely ball across and a great finish by Mitch."

Saints have also announced that two of their youngsters, George Morrall and Charlie McDonald, have gone on dual registration with Southern League Division One Central leaders Bedford Town.

Noble said: "It's good for those boys to go and get first team football at a club who are doing really well.

"They are two boys that have promising careers in front of them but it is difficult for them to get first-team football here because of how we are playing.

"They need opportunities and this will be good for them."
