A man has intervened after a 13-year-old boy was the target of a "scary" robbery by a group of teenagers.

At around 3pm on Saturday, April 22, the victim was with the group in a wooded area near the Waggon and Horses pub on Watling Street, Borehamwood.

According to Hertfordshire police, the boy was pushed off his bike before attempts were made to steal it.

The 13-year-old saw a member of the public walking past, and called out for help.

At that point, a man came to the aid of the teenager and prevented the bike from being taken.

The group of boys then made their escape.

Detective Constable Ben Nash said: "This was a scary incident for the victim, and we are doing all we can to trace the individuals involved.

“As part of our enquiries, we are particularly keen to hear from the member of public who intervened.

"He is described as middle aged, with light hair and had three dogs with him.
