Towns and cities all over the UK are twinned with a range of locations across the globe.
St Albans is no exception, and is twinned with no less than nine towns in six different countries.
The city is even twinned with a ship, the HMS St Albans, whose company was awarded the Freedom of the City in July 2004.
With that in mind, here's all the towns that St Albans is twinned with across the globe.
1. Alzey, Germany
The town of Alzey, near Frankfurt, has been twinned with Harpenden since 1963.
As of 2008, the location had a population of 17,902.
The towns celebrated the 25th anniversary of their twinning with a bench on Harpenden Common and the planting of an oak tree.
2. Boissy and St. Yon, France
Boissy and the smaller village of St. Yon are twinned with Colney Heath.
As of 2015, Saint Yon had a population of just 879.
Both areas are around 20 miles south of Paris, and are surrounded by farmland.
3. Cosne-Cours-sur-Loire, France
Cosne-Cours-sur-Loire is another town twinned with Harpenden, this time in France.
There is an area in the centre of the town named Jardin d’Harpenden, whilst Harpenden itself has two roads named Cosne and Loire Mews.
As of 2015, Cosne-Cours-sur-Loire had a population of around 10,388.
4. Fano, Italy
Twinned with the city and district of St Albans, Fano is a town in the Marche region of Italy.
As of 2017, the location had a population of 60,852.
The link between the two sites was established in 1998, and is forged on the locations' shared Roman heritage.
5. Nevers, France
Nevers, in France, is another town twinned with St Albans due to its "physical and historical similarities".
Like St Albans, Nevers has a Roman background and is a place of pilgrimage.
In 2015, the town had a population of 34,228.
6. Nyíregyháza, Hungary
Nyíregyháza formed a 'friendship link' with the city and district of St Albans in 1994.
This was upgraded to a full town twinning in 1996.
The seventh largest town in Hungary, Nyíregyháza has a population of around 118,000.
7. Odense, Denmark
Odense is the third largest city in Denmark, with a population of around 180,000.
The two cities were twinned in 1948, when representatives from the location attended the St Albans Pageant.
King Canute is said to have taken an arm of Saint Alban back to Denmark, following his execution, whilst a church of St Alban is present in the city.
A brewery also produces Albani Beer at the location.
8. Sylhet, Bangladesh
A friendship link exists between Sylhet and St Albans and district.
This has been in place since 1988.
Sylhet is located in Eastern Bangladesh, and is a city on the Surma River.
9. Worms, Germany
Worms is a city situated on the upper-Rhine, with a population of 82,000 in 2015.
The location has a Celtic and Roman heritage, and is one of the oldest cities in Northern Europe.
Like Alzey, the locations nearest major city is Frankfurt.
