Police officers have been patrolling St Albans parks following reports of anti-social behaviour in the city.

According to Hertfordshire Constabulary, "The purpose of this is to crack down on anti-social behaviour by groups of individuals that are being intimidating, smoking drugs or being a general nuisance to the public".

Officers have asked for any witnesses or victims of anti-social behaviour to call non-emergency number 101, or 999 in an emergency.

A spokesperson for Hertfordshire Constabulary said: "We will look to attend the area immediately and deal with the individuals robustly."

The news follows an incident in Clarence Park, in which the father of a teenage boy fractured his eye socket, sustained a cut to the side of his face and suffered suspected bruising to his ribs, after he and his son were attacked on Monday, May 29.

Earlier this year, on March 19, a young boy was assaulted Longacres Park near Fleetville.

The boy was approached by two teenagers on bicycles, who stole his bag and pushed him to the ground, causing him to hit his head.
