Verulamium Park: Bins damaged in 'upsetting' vandalism

Bins in the park have been pulled from their positions and "tossed about", needing to be replaced following the incident.

On the weekend of February 10 and 11 the word "smile" was graffitied onto the new bins in the area.

Chris Traill, director for community and place delivery at St Albans City and District Council, said: “It is very sad to see bins vandalised in this way. 

"Our teams, and those of our contractors, work hard to ensure Verulamium Park remains clear of rubbish, and to see our bins – which are provided through council tax payers’ money - vandalised like this is upsetting and exasperating both for local residents and our staff and contractors.

"We are reviewing CCTV coverage to see if we can identify the culprit, and reporting the incident to the police.
