St Albans Abbey - Watford Junction trains blocked by tree

No services will be running on the Abbey Line until around 10.45pm today (February 21) due to the blockage, London Northwestern Railway(LNR) announced just before 4.30pm.

National Rail has said disruption is expected until the end of the day. It lists the fallen tree “incident” as near St Albans Abbey.

Only one service, departing St Albans Abbey for Watford Junction at 11.08pm, is set to run on the line after 10.45pm.

Rail replacement buses will therefore be replacing trains until service resumes.

LNR apologised to passengers for the inconvenience.

Hertfordshire County Council is set to consider a motion expressing “dismay” at the “continuing failure of London Northwestern Railway to run a reliable service on the line” on March 12.

The proposed motion, tabled by Meriden Tudor councillor Steve Cavinder, follows contact from users dissatisfied with the regularity of cancellations and a general feeling that the line is not treated as a priority.

In response, LNR stressed that it is “fully committed to improving our performance on the route and building on the recent upturn in reliability we have seen since the end of the overtime ban”.
