A Middlesex man has been fined after stealing more than £1,500 worth of confectionary from Tesco in St Albans city centre.
Florin Matei, from Edgeware, appeared at Willesden Magistrates' Court on Friday, March 15, where he was fined £200 for theft from a shop on November 6, 2023.
Matei also pleaded guilty to failing to surrender to police/court bail at the appointed time on Thursday, January 4. No separate penalty was awarded for this offence.
The 22-year-old was not ordered to pay any compensation for the stolen items taken due to them having been recovered.
A second defendant, 27-year-old Bianca Pascu - of Fernhurst Gardens, Edgware - also pleaded guilty to the theft, as well as failing to surrender to police/court bail at the appointed time on November 28, 2023.
She it yet to be sentenced.
