St Albans Musical Theatre Company is putting on a production of Leonard Bernstein's On The Town next month.
The musical follows three American soldiers, Gabey, Chip and Ozzie, on 24-hour shore leave in New York City during World War II, in search of love, fun and the beautiful Miss Turnstiles - finding themselves in awkward situations along the way.
With music by Bernstein, who also composed West Side Story, the show - set in 1944 - features the iconic songs 'New York, New York', 'I Can Cook Too' and 'Lonely Town'.
The book and lyrics are by Betty Comden and Adolph Green, based on an idea by Jerome Robbins.
The show will take place at the Alban Arena from Tuesday, April 30 to Saturday, May 4, with performances at 7.30pm and a 2.30pm matinée on the Saturday.
Tickets are available from https://alban-arena.co.uk/events/st-albans-musical-theatre-company-on-the-town/.
The St Albans performance is directed by Dom O'Hanlon, with Colin Fraser as musical director and Nicola Martinus-Smith as choreographer.
Dom said: "It's such a friendly company and one that attracts so many different people for each production.
"We have 14 people making their SAMTC debut in this show, from leading roles, featured dancers and ensemble, so it's great to welcome new talent onto the Arena stage."
"I love working with passionate and hard-working people who all come together outside of their professional lives.
"I love the fact that everyone has such a variety of jobs and life experience yet come together to rehearse a show and work as a team regardless of age and experience.
"I really do think it's a magic way of putting on a show."
