A car was stopped by police on the A1 near St Albans last week, after children were spotted sitting on the laps of passengers.
At around 6.35pm last Thursday, officers from the Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire and Hertfordshire Road Policing Unit stopped a Toyota Yaris on the motorway at Redbourn.

This Yaris passed us on the M1, the rear passenger had a small child on their lap, when stopped, there was 2 unrestrained children (2 yr & 1 yr) in the back, on the passengers laps.

Inside the vehicle, they found a one-year-old and a two-year-old "unrestrained" sitting on the laps of passengers.
