St Albans has been named among the worst areas for food hygiene in the UK, according to a recent study.
Richard Price, manager of online supermarket BritSuperstore, has analysed the Food Standards Agency ratings of every restaurant in the major cities and towns in the UK.
Each area was then ranked from worst to best, based on the percentage of its restaurants rated below three.
St Albans ranked 14th on this list, with 3.7 per cent of its restaurants below a three-star food hygiene rating.

Richard Price also added: “It is of paramount importance for restaurants to have a high standard of cleanliness, not only for good business practices but also for the safety of the customer.
"Not only could it be incredibly dangerous to eat at an establishment that is poorly rated for hygiene, it provides a poor experience as the customer.
"You can search for individual restaurants on the Food Standards Agency website, so you can see personally how they have been rated."
