The Harpenden Summer Carnival will return in June for its 57th incarnation.

Organised by Harpenden Town Council, the event will return from midday to 6pm on Saturday, June 8.

The carnival has always been a significant event in the town, and this year promises to be no different.

The free event aims to display the best of Harpenden while raising funds for multiple charities.

This year funds will be raised for the Harpenden Trust's Wellbeing Hub and the town mayor’s chosen charity, Youth Talk.

Douglas Sleaper, head of office at Savills Harpenden, the leading sponsor, said: "Harpenden Carnival is a great celebration of our local community and we’re proud to have been involved for several years.

"As well as being a lot of fun for all the family it also raises a considerable amount of money for so many good causes.

"This year promises to be no exception and we can’t wait to welcome as many people as possible."

On the music stage, festival-goers will be treated to the vintage sounds of band James and the Blue Moon, the talented Sam Lewis, and Harpenden favourites Number 7 and Maida Vales.

Meanwhile the performance zone will feature acts from circus artist Richard Filby, comedy juggler Matt Bernard, and the award-winning show by Cha Char Chimps for children.

Refreshments available include BBQs souvlaki, Indian street food, sourdough toasties, and an assortment of vegan options.

A lively outdoor bar, hosted by The Engineer Pub, will serve frozen cocktails.

Mayor Cllr Pip Liver thanked this year's sponsors—Savills, Harpenden Dental Centre, and Lyndhurst Financial Management—for their generosity in allowing the community to come together and celebrate the summer, all while raising funds for charity.

On the day, the information tent will have council officers ready to assist and provide information on other town council events.

Alongside the carnival, Art on the Common will be staged on Harpenden Common outside Park Hall from 10am to 5pm, exhibiting works from more than 60 local artists, all in aid of Cancer Research.
