St Albans police have vowed to focus on antisocial behaviour, vehicle theft and speeding as part of their neighbourhood priorities.

The force has emphasised the work done by neighbourhood policing teams (NPTs) with a focus on on solving long and short-term neighbourhood issues, such as anti-social behaviour, theft, speeding and drug-related crime.

In an update to residents, they broke down some of their recent priorities and the actions which are being taken. These include:

Anti-social behaviour and moped crime

Police carried out regular patrols along the Alban Way from Sopwell to Clarence ward as well as stop searches and weapon sweeps.

Due to a fall in crime in the Alban Way, they believe this is no longer a priority.

They have also seized dozens of bottles of alcohol in a bid to stop street drinking and anti-social behaviour.

Speeding

Officers have pledged to carry out regular checks and increase enforcement of the 30mph speed limit.

Vehicle theft

Police say: "In the last four months, 14 keyless vehicles have been stolen. We continue to use both uniformed and plain-clothed officers on patrols to deter and catch suspects.

"Four people have been arrested and charged in the last four months for theft from motor vehicles and are currently waiting court dates."

Police have also identified Rothamsted Park as an issue and have increased patrols to deal with anti-social behaviour.
