The annual Letchworth Festival kicks off this weekend, with two days focused on fitness on family and fitness.

Kicking off on Saturday 1 June, the weekend will begin with a free family fun day, hosted by North Herts Leisure Centre. 

The day will see residents of all ages take on a range of fitness challenges, including a standing jump and 200m rowing.

Their will also be face painting and photo opportunities with mascots for children.

Later in the day, festivities will move to North Herts Leisure Centre, which will open its doors for a series of free activities throughout the day.

For younger members of the family, at 12.30pm there will be an exclusive 45-minute gymnastics session for parents and children under five, followed by free soft play between 1pm and 3.15pm with face painting available throughout.

For adults, there will be the chance to try a variety of existing sessions on offer at the centre, including badminton and squash.

A health walk will also take place, as an opportunity for attendees to connect with likeminded people in the area.

On Sunday, the focus turns to the Letchworth Lido, which will be opening its doors to two free sessions.

The second day of the festival will see sessions on water safety and and a beginners yoga session. There will also be a talk by the author of The Lido Guide, Emma Pushill,

The events mark the official beginning of the volunteer-run Festival, which returns this year for five weeks of fitness, music and art events for the whole family to enjoy.

The festival's motto this year is ‘Something old, something new or never seen, something borrowed and something green’, with an array of events to fill the summer schedule.
