A charity auction and gala raked in an impressive £3,422 for St Albans foodbanks last weekend.

The event was held to commemorate the 75th anniversary of St Albans Round Table, a social club for men aged 18 to 45.

Held at the St Albans Museum + Gallery, the gala dinner and charity auction was attended by around 100 people including St Albans Mayor Jamie Day and Daisy Cooper, Liberal Democrat Parliamentary candidate for the area.

Items were supplied by St Albans Food Bank, with every penny raised on the night going to support the work they do in the community.

St Albans Round Table chair Paul Gorley said: "I am delighted by the amount raised for St Albans Food Bank at our 75th Anniversary Dinner Charity Auction.  This goes to show the strength of our community and the generosity of local people in our unique city.

"I am grateful to everyone who made this night possible. St Albans Round Table is about making a difference and we hope to continue our fundraising efforts long into the future!"

The night saw a range of items auctioned, with all items sold in under an hour.

The items included two Premier League tickets for a Tottenham Hotspur match next season and a replica shirt signed by the 2023/24 Arsenal team.

The highest price was fetched by a luxury three-day weekend break in Camber, which sold for £1,200.

Other items included a selection of fine wines, a 2015 Pol Roger vintage champagne bottle and a three course meal for two at Lussmanns restaurant.
