The three top prize-winners from the 60th anniversary St Albans International Organ Festival are set to return to the scene of their triumph for a concert this weekend.
The free concert will take place at St Albans Cathedral on Saturday, June 8 from 6.30pm to 7.30pm.
The Interpretation Competition and Gold Medal was awarded to Sunkyung Noh while The Improvisation Competition’s first prize was shared by Samuel Gaskin and Niklas Jahn.
Samuel Gaskin, who is from Texas, said: "I’m looking forward to re-connecting with Niklas and Sunkyung, and with Margaret and James who hosted me in their home for the duration of the competition last summer.
"I’m also looking forward to the incredible curry at Amrit Indian Restaurant."
Samuel will perform works by living composers Jean-Baptiste Robin and Thierry Escaich alongside his own arrangement of jazz great Oscar Peterson’s Bossa Béguine, plus an improvisation.
Niklas, from Germany, will perform music by his compatriots JS Bach and Max Reger, and his own improvisation.
Meanwhile, Sunkyung will perform work by composers celebrated for their organ music - JS Bach, Felix Mendelssohn and Charles-Marie Widor.
She will also celebrate British composer Dame Judith Weir, the Master of the King’s Music who recently celebrated her 70th birthday.
