St Albans Folk Festival takes place this weekend, with a range of free events and two major concerts.
The festival opens on Friday, June 14 with an evening barn dance in the Robin Hood pub in Victoria Street and an evening of singing in the garden at the Hollybush pub in Redbourn.
On Saturday, June 15, 10 groups of dancers will perform in the city centre, along with singers and musicians performing at the Clock Tower, in Christopher Place and outside the Alban Arena.
Activities for families on the day include songs at St Albans Library from 11am to midday, and maypole dancers from Young Miscellany in the Abbey Orchard from 2.30pm to 3.30pm.
The festival concert will take place at 7.30pm on Saturday at St Saviour's Church, with a line-up including Culverake, FaltrUKeiras, Mark Ashworth and Anna Bailey.

On Sunday, June 16, there will be an informal afternoon of of folk songs and music from 3pm to 5pm at St Saviour's, in collaboration with charity Earthworks.
The weekend will end with a concert at the Roman Theatre at 7.30pm: 'The New Radio Ballads - in the footsteps of Ewan MacColl'.
