Bobby socks and platform shoes will take centre stage at The Hurst Children’s Theatre Group’s latest production: Turn Your Radio On.
This lively, retro inspired show will be staged at the Abbey Theatre in St Albans on June 22 and 23, and later at the EMC in Harpenden, from July 11 to 14.
Written by 1950s star Mike Hurst - father of the production's director Jonas Hurst - the play is laced with humour and follows the unconventional escapades of the era's music scene.
A spokesperson for the group said: "It tells the story of three young and loveable fools who are discovered by Harry Slime, theatrical agent, and heralded into stardom after securing the backing of the stiff-upper-lipped BBC.
"Can they put England on the 'Rock n' Roll' map?
"America’s biggest star, Razor Sharp, is not amused, and he tries to sabotage their plans.
"There’s romance, intrigue, laughs and musical numbers from the 50’s, supported by a professional rock ‘n’ roll band."
