Emergency services have searched a lake in London Colney after a rucksack and fishing rod were spotted floating on the surface.
Police were called at 10.41am yesterday (July 15) to reports that somebody may be in the River Colne.
Police and fire rescue services were deployed to the scene, and a helicopter was seen flying over the area.
The scenes sparked a wave of speculation on social media with residents growing increasingly concerned.
Police have now confirmed that a search was carried out with specialist equipment, but that they're "satisfied" nobody was in the water.
