A St Albans resident celebrated her 100th birthday last week, hitting the milestone at Alban Manor Nursing Home.
Marjorie Clarke was born on August 2, 1924 and has lived through 25 Prime Ministers, five monarchs and sweeping technological and societal change.
Marjorie was born in London before spells in Clacton and Borehamwood, ultimately moving to St Albans for her twilight years.
She is a football lover, never missing a game involving her beloved Arsenal.
The centurion has a sweet tooth, possessing a particular love of apple pie with custard and a cup of tea.
When she's not indulging on food or cheering on the Gunners, Marjorie loves to sing, dance and watch television.
Family has always been important to Marjorie, who never had a career, focussing lovingly on her four children and 11 grandchildren.
She was happily married to husband Albert, tying the knot just after the second World War.
They lived happily together until his death in 2006.
Marjorie finds joy in spending time with her family and fellow residents at Albert Manor, with a staff member saying that she "has a beautiful voice" and a "very joyful personality".
Congratulations to Marjorie for this very special birthday!
