An "armed" suspect is still at large, following reports of a robbery at a St Albans city centre shop.
Police were called at around 10.10am yesterday (September 2) to reports of a robbery at CEX in French Row, by a man with a knife.
Police officers have since been searching for the suspect in the area, with the help of the armed response unit, but the suspect remains at large.
Last night, a spokesperson for Herts police said: "Residents may have noticed a police presence in St Albans city centre.
"Please be reassured that officers are searching for the suspect in the area. It was reported that the suspect had a knife and so the armed response unit are supporting officers as a precaution."
No injuries have been reported and, at this time, nothing is reported to have been stolen.
Today, police have confirmed that "enquiries to trace the suspect continue", and that the incident is being treated as an attempted aggravated burglary.
Anyone with information is asked to call 101 or report online, quoting ISR 182 of 2 September.
