The M1 has reopened between Hemel Hempstead and St Albans this afternoon (September 11) after being closed due to a concern for welfare incident.
Shortly before 3pm, police reported road closures in both directions between Junction 8 and Junction 9.
A spokesperson for Hertfordshire Constabulary confirmed that the road was closed as a result of a concern for welfare.
The road has now reopened with delays beginning to ease.
