Plans for a pharmacy to take over the former HSBC site have been withdrawn.
Manor Pharmacy currently has a home at 3A Leyton Grove, but owners had made an application to move into the High Street later this year.
HBSC closed its doors in 2023 and the building at 1 High Street has remained empty for over a year.
Under the plans, the basement and ground floor would have undergone a change of use to become a pharmacy.
Alterations would have been made to the ground floor and permission had been sought for the installation of new signage and a staircase.
The plans had received a mixed response during a public consultation.
Suggested Reading:
The application had signalled an intent for the new pharmacy to open its doors in November.
But in a letter dated September 16, St Albans City and District Council confirmed it had accepted the withdrawal of the application.
No reasons have been given for the application being withdrawn at time of writing.
