New electric vehicle charging points are coming to St Albans after plans to create a 'charging zone' on Hatfield Road were approved.
The plans, submitted by Motor Fuel Group Ltd, will create eight EV bays, four charging points, three jet wash bays and a plant room.
The facility will be constructed at 244 Hatfield Road, adjacent to the Morrisons supermarket.
In a covering letter accompanying the application, Motor Fuel Group said: "The proposed EV charging area would has been carefully planned to positively integrate with the existing site.

"The facility offers a modern design approach, which is both uncluttered and fit for purpose."
The application was received warmly when it was submitted in August, with one member of the public writing: "St Albans needs considerably more EV charging infrastructure.
"It is hard to think of any downsides for the local community. As drivers transition to EVs, they can use this facility in place of the petrol station immediately adjacent to it."
Electric vehicles are growing in prominence in Hertfordshire, evidenced by recent plans for similar developments in Hemel Hempstead and Letchworth.
While planning officers in St Albans have given the green light to these plans, an application by the same company for a similar site in Hatfield was rejected earlier this week.
