Four pop-up events are set to celebrate Older Persons' Day in and around St Albans.
Organised by St Albans City and District Council, these 'Flourishing Lives' events aim to highlight the contribution of older people to the community.
Amanda Foley, the council’s chief executive, said: "It is important that we join in with organisations all over the world to celebrate our fantastic older people and the great contribution they make to our communities.
"These free events offer information about how to participate in a range of social and fun activities, including art and keep-fit clubs."
The events aim to offer residents the chance to socialise and learn about services which help keep older individuals safe, connected, and independent.
Council officers will provide information on housing and welfare benefits, while Citizens Advice, Communities 1st, Age UK, and other groups will be present to offer guidance.
There will also be representatives from Hertfordshire Police, Trading Standards, and the Fire Service who may discuss crime prevention issues.
The events will take place at Wheathampstead's Marford Memorial Hall from 10am to 12. 30pm on October 21, St Albans Civic Centre from 1pm to 3.30pm on October 23, Redbourn Village Hall from 9.30am to noon on October 24, and London Colney's Caledon Centre from 10am to 12.30pm on October 28.
Free refreshments will be provided.
