A new map of eateries in St Albans has been released.

The St Albans City Centre Business Improvement District (BID) has put together the guide, which features 120 locations where residents and tourists can eat and drink in central St Albans.

These include restaurants, coffee shops, cafés, pubs, bars, dessert places, takeaways and convenience stores.

BID manager Vivien Cannon said: "The BID is thrilled to support the hospitality sector with the launch of our St Albans City Centre Food & Drink Map.

"Through our destination marketing campaigns, the BID helps attract tourists and supports businesses by spreading the word about our wonderful city and highlighting what’s on offer.

"This includes producing the official Visitor Guide and managing the 'Enjoy St Albans' website and social media.

"Whether it’s a family meal, a night out with friends or if you’re simply looking for something quick to pick up at lunch, the Food & Drink Map is a handy navigational tool to help you explore the wide range of sensational dining experiences in the city centre."

The map aims to help visitors find new places to eat and drink and to explore the city's culinary scene.

It also lists eateries that cater to different dietary requirements, including vegan and gluten-free options, as well as dog-friendly spots.

Artist Eleanor Grana designed the map and included illustrations of St Albans' attractions such as the cathedral and museum.

She said: "I was delighted when the BID reached out to ask me to illustrate and design their new Food & Drink Map, after they saw my wayfinding map in Sumpter Yard for the Cathedral.

"I grew up in St Albans and have had the pleasure of working with the BID team when I worked at St Albans Cathedral and St Albans Museums.

"St Albans is a wonderful city with a great foodie scene, and I loved illustrating some of the key buildings in the town along with some tasty treats."

The map can be picked up from visitor information points at St Albans Cathedral and St Albans Museum + Gallery, as well as from city centre hotels.
