Players for Oaklands College’s St Albans Wolves Football Academy (SAFA) are celebrating after being crowned champions in the British College Sport League.
It is the second year running that the Wolves have won the league, and the team made it through the whole season unbeaten.
After winning 14 matches against other college teams, the final game of the season saw SAFA pitted against the EDSV Academy – they went on to triumph with a 1-0 victory.
Academy manager Steve Castle said: “I’m very proud of this year’s group. They have emulated last year’s team by winning our league. Not only have they gone unbeaten in the league all year, but their general attitude and enthusiasm to learn and progress has been a credit to them all.”
Community football co-ordinator Karen Gibson added: “I’m absolutely delighted for the SAFA boys, Steve Castle and his coaching team. To win the league two years in a row is a fantastic achievement.”
