St Albans Hockey Club’s men’s 2nd team fought off relegation in a dramatic end-of-season battle.
The team will remain in division one of the London Hockey League after an emphatic 5-1 victory against Hampstead and Westminster on Saturday. The 1st team had a solid season and finished fourth in the East of England Premier League.
In the ladies section, the 3rds won 3-0 against Colchester with goals from Sarah Mobbs, Em Thompson and Helen Waddell, whoel the 5ths won 4-2 with Gemma Little and Jordan Beaumont-Wraith scoring a brace each for the Tangerines.
With the league fixtures wrapping up for the season the club is now looking forward to running its youth hockey camps over the Easter school holidays. The camps are organised and run by England and Great Britain international Ellie Watton and will include specialist goalkeeping coaching from England’s James Bailey.
