The ladies of Batchwood Bowls Club are continuing to do well in national and county competitions.
Lesley Tutt won a thrilling senior singles match against Marcia Dunstone from Berkhamsted, running the jack back to her own woods with her last bowl.
She now progresses to the area semi-final where she will play Betty Stewart from Herts BC.
Sandra Clark, Brenda Bennitt, Jenny Gauthier and Jackie Bell overcame Harpenden 22-10 to take a second County League win.
Two Batchwood ladies triples were also successful against St Albans but the St Albans men defeated the two Batchwood fours in their County League fixture.
Townsend welcomed four triples from Harpenden and proceeded to win on each of the rinks.
It meant a comprehensive 92-39 win overall which was headed by the rink of Richard Morgan, Ian Forster and Bob Lawrie, who won 25-7.
In the weekend friendly they travelled to North Mymms and most couldn't adapt to the surface, a contrast to their Waverley Road home.
Rena and Gordon Williamson plus Nigel Whittle and Clyde Martindill had the better day, winning 21-12 despite seeing a 20-2 lead eroded slightly.
The Centenary Cup was won by Harpenden for the fourth consecutive year - although the result was close.
The competition was instigated in 2008 to highlight the fact that Dunstable, Harpenden and Tring were all celebrating their 100th year since formation.
In total 24 ladies and men from each club bowled 24 ends with a total of 3,888 woods played.
But after an afternoon of nip and tuck bowling, Harpenden took the honours with 188 shots, eight ahead of Tring and a further nine clear of Dunstable.
