A new cricket league has been set up in St Albans for primary schools.
The idea is to increase participation of both boys and girls in the sport and 10 schools have signed up - Alban City, Bowmansgreen, Skyswood, Killigrew, Cunningham Hill, Maple, Oakwood, Park Street, Garden Fields and Windemere.
The teams were split into two groups of five, and played three group matches each.
The top two from each group qualified for a finals day, hosted by Cunningham Hill, one of the four.
All of the matches were umpired by Mr Oswin of Skyswood, who spearheaded the creation of the league, with Alban City beating the hosts by 10 runs in the first semi.
They were up against Killigrew in the final, who beat Maple in a semi which went down to the final two overs.
The final saw some super batting, with a fair few boundaries, and ended with Alban City taking home the trophy.
PE lead at the school, Mr Clements, said: "I'm proud of how the children worked together as a team, showing great resilience and teamwork to support one another.
"We're looking forward to many more years of competitive, and fun, primary school cricket."
