There was plenty of success for bowlers of clubs across St Albans & District - and one national champion at Townsend.
That honour belonged to Peter Waller who, along with partner Steve Gill from Norwich, was undefeated in all eight matches at the National Outdoor Championship for the visually impaired, held at Royal Leamington Spa.
Townsend are also in the thick of district competitions.
Peter Thomson and Alan Charran faced up to a very experienced duo from North Mymms, with nine shots over two ends allowed them to pull away to a 19-10 win.
Thomson also progressed in the District Singles at the expense of opposition from Potters Bar, winning 21-19 in a match where the lead changed hands on numerous occasions.
The midweek friendly was a local derby against five triples from St Albans which ended with an 79-68 victory thanks to three rink wins.
The best was a eight-shot win for Lorna Thomson, Ann English and Ian Forster with St Albans' top rink of Carole Ewer, Sally Griffiths and Steve Wilson winning 18-15.
Townsend also managed two points in the County League in an overall defeat to Batchwood, the rink of Les Perkins, Andy Scarborough, Peter Armstrong and Matt Pope winning 20-17 to secure the points.
Batchwood's representation at the county semi-finals was led by Brian Parkes who played a marathon 31 ends to win in the men’s unbadged singles by a narrow margin.
He will now play the final at Bishop's Stortford. The ladies' four of B.Bennitt, S.Swain, J.Gauthier and J.Bell were not so fortunate, losing to a strong team from Herts BC.
In a District League game against North Mymms, all three rinks were won in a 50-37 success, the top rink being John Bell, Eddie Thackery, Parkes and Dave Richardson.
Harpenden's success at the semi-final event came in the ladies triples against Sawbridgeworth.
The trio of Denise Moores, Sheila Rider and Jenny McEvoy had trailed for most of the match but pulled level at 16-16 on the 18th and final end.
That sent the tie into an extra end and despite losing the toss, the final bowl from skip McEvoy landed two inches from the jack to win the game for Harpenden.
They will play in the county final next but will also represent Hertfordshire at the national finals in Leamington next month.
St Albans' mixed triples away game at Cheshunt began but had to be abandoned after six ends due to persistent heavy rain.
Sunday's mixed rinks match at home to Kings Langley was played across five rinks, each club putting up 20 players.
The visitors won three of the rinks, taking the match overall by 73-65. Top rink for St Albans by 19-7 was Alan Turner, Joyce Wilson, Linda Burfield and Steve Wilson.
