The weekend for St Albans Striders was dominated by the story of two 10k races.
Both very well attended by the club with the first being the home St Albans Summer 10k, which formed part of the Herts County Vets Championship.
The women’s race saw Heather Hann finish second in 37 minutes 31 seconds while Deirdre Heydecker and Ellie McMurray were 25th and 40th.
In the men’s race Patrick Hawker was second in the men's race in a time of 33:55 while Jim King was 10th, and first in his age group, and Mark Kennedy 12th.
Many of the Striders picked up individual awards for finishing in the top three of their categories as well as team awards.
The second event was the Bearbrook 10k in Buckinghamshire.
In the men’s race there Steve Buckle was second in 33:32 with Stefano Federici and Jonny Pennell fourth and ninth.
The team award went to these three runners plus Max Campbell.
Lily Seach was second in the women’s race in a time of 40:11 with Penny Habbick sixth and Kate Dixon eighth, although the last two were first in their age categories.
And there is a new club record for the V50 men, Jim King setting 17:25 at the Battersea Park Vets 5k.
