Caitlin Ryan's lay-up with eight seconds on the clock proved to be the game winners as Oaklands Wolves won a thriller 58-56 against Bracknell Cobras.
The young basketball team made hard work of their sixth win from 10 NBL Division Two South games this season, letting a 13-point lead late in the second period slip away.
Sixteen-year-old Ryan captained a Wolves' side at senior level for the first time and led the hosts with 17 points, eight rebounds and four steals while Stella Ekblad-Piscitelli hit three triples on the way to an 11-point, five rebound afternoon.
Wolves had looked in control as they closed out the first period on a 12-3 run to lead 18-8, and Ekblad-Piscitelli's free-throws got it to 33-22 at the half-time buzzer.
The third period saw Bracknell whittle the lead down to just five going into the final quarter and they went on to lead 46-45 after a three pointer with five minutes remaining.
It was nip and tuck for there on until Wolves forced a turnover and Ryan sealed the win.
There was less good news for Wolves' two men's NBL teams as they went down to contrasting defeats.
A massive 43-point haul from La'Quarn Sayers wasn't enough to prevent a 113-74 Division Two loss at Ipswich while the Division Three side just came up short as they fell 90-85 to Northampton Mavericks.
Sayers' biggest night of the season so far wasn't enough to prevent Ipswich turning round at half-time 56-35 in front before going on to comfortably wrap up the win.
It leaves Wolves bottom of the table ahead of Sunday's home game against Cardiff.
The Division Three match put Wolves up against two seven-footers and they only led for 37 seconds of the 40 minutes.
But, despite seeing coach Dodi Butor ejected with two minutes remaining, they did have the chance to level the score in the final minute before Northampton sealed the win at the foul line.
Captain Dan Kostadinov drained seven three-pointers on the way to a 25 point, nine rebound, four assist night, while Hakeem Abubakar had 14 points and Dontel Rose hit four triples to finish with 12 points.
Wolves women had a weekend off from WBBL action but they return to Oaklands on Saturday evening to face Newcastle Eagles in a 6pm tip-off.

Lee Ryan’s team go into the game in ninth place with two wins from six games while Eagles are sixth with a 3-3 record.
The club's juniors had successes with two of their NBL development teams.
The U15s beat West Herts Warriors 72-66 and the U13s recorded a big 74-45 victory at Cambourne Falcons.
Both teams have found the going tough playing in older age groups, with the U13s always facing bigger opposition and the U15s providing several players for the U16 team.
Oliver Thomas hit a clutch three-pointer to win a thriller against West Herts, their second victory of the season, but he'll have to share the headlines with Seth Coetzee who had a massive 36-point, 11 rebound double-double to lead the Wolves.
Jacob Edrupt also had a big game, adding seven assists and six steals to his 13 points.
Wolves had started strongly with a 24-13 first period but the visitors refused to give in and it wasn't until Thomas struck from downtown in the final minute that the win was sealed.
Meanwhile, a strong performance from an U13 side missing several players saw them chalk up their fourth win of the season.
After an even start, the second unit finished the opening period strongly to lead 17-8, and despite losing forward Rocky Starr with a suspected broken wrist, a 19-4 third period ended the game as a contest.
Alex Ryan and Ted Yu finished with 15 points apiece, with Ryan adding nine assists, six rebounds and as many steals.
Danny Tsoutas chipped in with 11 points as all 10 Wolves players got on the scoresheet.
The U14 boys kept their play-off hopes alive in the East Premier as they came back from 11 down at the end of the third period to win 96-89 at Ipswich.
Zac Butterworth followed up the previous week's 30-pont haul by dropping 35, with Liam Schertal adding 22 as Ibrahim Garbia's side moved up to third place in the table.
The U16 boys' tough season continued as Otis Lau-Johnstone's 18 points weren't enough to prevent a 95-30 loss at London Stars as they never recovered from 27-4 first period deficit.
Finally, the U14 girls will go into Christmas looking for their first league win of the campaign after a 66-50 home loss against Solent Kestrels.
Allison Day's team trailed 44-20 at half-time but a big third period saw them cut the margin to 54-44.
That was as close as they came as Kestrels wrapped up the win with a 12-6 final quarter.
Jane Yu led the hosts with 22 points with Daisy Golan adding eight and Olivier Ackers seven.
