A final game before Christmas brought gifts for some but coal for others.
In the Spartan South Midlands League Premier Division, Baldock Town got the weekend off to a flyer on Friday night with a 3-0 win at Biggleswade United.
Kieran Barnes, Kit Brown and Archie O'Brien got the goals for the Reds.
One day later, landlords Arlesey Town were unable to follow suit, going down to a 2-0 defeat at home to Harpenden Town.
David Keenleyside and Josh Rodrigues were on target for Harps as they secured their first win in three games.
New Arlesey Town manager Tommy Cooney is still searching for his first win after two losses.
Colney Heath are one of the form teams in the division as they made it four straight victories with a 4-1 win at Leverstock Green.
There were four different scorers for the Magpies too and some lovely football on display as they continue to grow in confidence and belief.
They got off to a great start, new signing Jack Kimber announcing himself just four minutes into his debut with a shot from the edge of the box past keeper Josh Bowler.
The second arrived on 15 minutes, Jack Percy making a mazy run into the box before shooting from six yards.
The scorer went from hero to villain as he conceded a penalty shortly after, but his blushes were spared when Connor Sansom pulled off a great save to deny Radu-Mihai Stefanoacia.
The Leverstock man made amends four minutes after that though as he halved the deficit, getting his head on a Dan Pett free-kick before Sansom could collect.
But Colney roared straight back up to the other end and when Kimber delivered a corner, Kai Thomas-Fraser headed home.
The home side hit the crossbar in the opening moments of the second half, Luke Beckwith the unfortunate player, and it was Heath who scored what turned out to be the final goal of the game on 57 minutes.
Percy delivered a cross for Ollie Lawford to smash goalwards, and although Bowler saved that, George Sippetts rammed home the rebound.
There was still plenty of time for Beckwith to be denied by the woodwork again, the post this time, but there was never going to be a comeback.
Colney Heath are now up to 10th in the standings, four places but two points behind Harpenden.
Baldock are 13th and Arlesey remain second from bottom.
In Division One, Letchworth Eagles lost 2-1 at home to Royston Town Res to sit 16th.
Neither AFC Welwyn nor Codicote could take advantage of the other's slip-up in Division Two.
AFC Welwyn remain top after falling to a shock 3-2 loss away to bottom of the league Caddington.
The visitors had fought back from 2-0 down to tie it up before Caddington grabbed a winner to lift them off the foot of the table.
Welwyn still have five-point buffer to Codicote though after the second-placed side lost 4-3 to the side directly below them in the standings, Newport Pagnell Town Res.
It had been 2-2 at half-time with Codicote pegged back from 2-1 up.
By the time they had got their third though, Pagnell had managed to score another two.
Liam Hayden got two for Cod with Vinny Clarke grabbing the other.
The Southern League Premier Division Central saw a couple of draws for Hitchin Town and Royston Town.
The Canaries will spend Christmas just outside the play-off places after a 2-2 draw at home to Mickleover.
A crowd of 640 inside Top Field saw Hitchin have to twice come back from a goal down to rescue a point against the second-placed outfit, Layne Eadie getting both of their goals.
Royston meanwhile needed an equaliser in the seventh minute of stoppage time from goalkeeper Louis Chadwick to earn themselves a 1-1 draw at Coalville Town.
The Crows, who were down to nine men by this point following the second-half dismissals of Adam Murray and Mackye Townsend-West, sent the keeper up for a late corner and he scored with a header at the back post.
Royston remain just above the relegation places though.
In Division One Central, Stotfold are down to 13th after a 2-1 loss away to Hadley.
All the goals came in the first half with Conor Clarke equalising for the Eagles on 25 minutes.
In Division One of the Combined Counties League, London Colney lost 5-0 at home to Oxhey Jets.
