Grassroots rugby players from across St Albans and beyond took part in an annual charity match in aid of Team George.
Held at Verulamians Rugby Club on Saturday, the home team took on the barbarians-style mixed team, which featured players from St Albans, Old Albanian, Berkhamsted and even one who had made the trip from Holland especially.
Mick O'Shea, one of the organisers along with Ross Graham of Vees and Mick Foley of OAs, said: "The game was a great show of local pride and was entertaining throughout, ably refereed by Jonathan Davis of the Herts Referee Society.
"Over 50 players took the field in support of George Davis who is suffering with rare liver cancer.
"Dutch Patrick even got a score along with Neil Gallagher and one of the OAs forwards.
"After a truly emotional speech from Jonathan Bracey, the father of George whom we were raising money for, pints were had, backs were slapped and friendships new and old were forged or reignited.
"Thank you to Verulamians for their hospitality as ever and to Ross and Mick."
