St Albans Striders came out in force to claim team gold and silver at the Watford Half Marathon.
A total of 63 runners put on the yellow and blue vest to tackle the undulating lanes between the start and finish in Cassiobury Park.
The course has a reputation as one of the toughest half marathons in the area but that did not put off the Striders who embraced the near perfect conditions on Sunday morning.
Ross May was first of them home in a time of one hour 15 minutes 14 seconds, securing himself a top 10 finish.
Jacob James (18th), Chris Dennell (25th), Adam Yorwerth (26th), and Rob Smith (51th) helped the Striders men to a silver in the senior county championship, held within the Watford race itself.
For the ladies Hannah Burkhardt, who was sixth, took county silver and was closely followed by Freya Weddell (ninth) who secured county bronze.
The pair were joined by Helen Cartlidge (17) and Alice Clilverd (75) to complete the winning quartet claiming gold in the women’s team event.
Despite the undulating terrain there were several impressive PBs over the half marathon distance.
They including Chris Dennell (1:19:09) and Rob Smith (1:23:48) while Adam Herron dug deep to bank his fastest outing since 2012, finishing in 1:38:24.
