One of the biggest days of the year at Harpenden Rugby Club was declared an unrivalled success - yet another feather in the cap for a club on the rise.
More than 30 teams arrived at Redbourn Lane for the annual National Pub and Hen Sevens.
Established in 1966 and now in its 58th year, the competition attracts teams from far and wide and remains a significant event in the national rugby union calendar.
It has recently expanded with a women's competition alongside the men's and vets competition.
It meant there was a sea of bodies, not just on the main pitch in front of the clubhouse, but across the whole of the site, while a funfair and food and refreshments kept spectators occupied.
Shogun Katana took the top honours, beating Bolt 7s 19-12 in a highly entertaining final to secure the Singleton Trophy.
Hammerhead Sharks took home the Hen's competition for the ladies.
The day also saw the unveiling of the new Harpenden Rugby Club mascot, Faz the cockerel, who made appearances through the afternoon and for the finals to the delight and amusement of spectators.
The day also raised funds and awareness for charity partner Looseheadz, while the 'open to all' ethos was much in evidence with a range of teams and abilities taking part throughout the day.
The event all comes on the back of the senior men's rise up the standings, just one part of the overall success for the club.
They are now at their highest ever level in Regional One South East, having finished third last year and fourth the year before that.
Their 2024-2025 season starts on September 7 away to Tring before they head back to HQ for another Hertfordshire derby, Letchworth Garden City the visitors to Redbourn Lane on September 14.
Harpenden are always on the look out for new players.
Training for seniors takes place on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 7:30pm.
