Townsend Bowls Club have retained an annual trophy.
The Stuart Mather Trophy is contested every year against Harpebury, the two clubs the once district president was also president of.
The commemoration match always has a bit of kick to it and it was the home side this year, Harperbury, who began things the better.
The first rink was drawn but the hosts took the second 19-13.
However, Townsend then changed gear and won the next three ties and the match 96-85.
The plaudits for top rink went to the Townsend trio of Richard Morgan, Bob Padget and Gordon Williamson and the trophy will take its prominent position of pride behind the bar of the Waverley Road club.
Harpenden have a great end of season match to look forward to after reaching the final of the district's Bob Vise Trophy.
They won three out of the four disciplines to clinch a final place against Batchwood on bank holiday Monday at Potters Bar.
They won the singles, the pairs and the triples with an overall shot difference of 66-50.
They will be hoping to repeat their success of 2019, their last appearance in the final.
The ladies of St Albans Bowling Club got a win over Harpenden in the District Rinks League.
Although they lost one rink 16-12, a 25-7 win on the other gave them a 37-23 success overall.
At the same time some of the club's less experienced ladies played a friendly triples and won convincingly 19-8.
In the men's Friday Night Triples League St Albans beat North Mymms despite losing the away leg 19-16-
The home leg was won 24-10 giving the a 40-29 overall win.
A five rink mixed triples friendly at home to Radlett saw three rink wins in a 77-70 triumph.
The top rink was Alan Turner, Pato and Peter Kay who won 21-11.
