Harpenden are the champions of the Herts Cricket League Premier Division - crossing the line with a flourish and a big win over Shenley Village.

They won by 220 runs to make sure Potters Bar could not catch them, the top two playing each other in the final week at the Common.

Put into bat Harpenden were in typically majestic form that has seen them lose just twice in 17 games.

James Latham and Scott Galloway set them on their way with an opening stand of 86, ending in the 10th over with the latter going for 42 in 32 balls.

Latham lasted another 10 overs before being the third man out, his innings ending on an almost run-a-ball 59.

Olly Batchelor was in by then though and he smashed 69 in 74 balls, supported by Andrew Neal on 33, Bill Meacock on 38 and Ben Frazer's 31.

They were eventually all out for 341 but it was a score that was unlikely to be challenged.

So it proved as Shenley slumped to 121, all out in the 36th over with opener Charles Thurston top scoring on 27.

Harry Seagrave had 3-13 for Harpenden with 3-49 from Tom Beasley. Neal chipped in with 2-18.

Suhaib Ahmad and Dhruv Sapra got three wickets each for Shenley who are now back into the bottom two following Bishop's Stortford's win over North Mymms.

They have to win their final game at Totteridge or hope Stortford also lose at West Herts, while picking up less batting and bowling points than the Villagers.

Radlett meanwhile are up to fifth after an 86-run win over now relegated Old Owens.

They scored 262 with a top score of 61 from Jayden Broodryk, ably assisted by David Burnell's 47 and 43 from Fraser Crawford.

Burnell was also among the wickets as Owens were all out for 176, taking 3-38 which was just behind Kabir Toor's 3-35.

St Albans had been relegated from the Championship one week earlier and they suffered a 146-run loss on the penultimate week at promotion-chasing Welwyn Garden City.

The home side had reached 384-7 in their 50 overs and while Saints batted well, their 238-7 was well behind the total.

Daniel Rosson was the pick of their bowlers with 3-54 while Barnaby Fitch (77) and Oliver Coulman (62) led their batting.

In Division One, Redbourn have taken their promotion hopes into a final week after a dramatic six-run win at home to St Margaretsbury.

They are now third, just seven points behind Luton Town & Indians. They still need to beat champions-elect Reed first and hope Luton slip up against Hitchin.

The win over St Margs came down to the final over.

Redbourn made 266-8 batting first, George Cutler starring with 110, but the visitors to the Common still went into the final over needing 12 to win.

The first two balls of Callum Moyle proved crucial though, a dot and then a wicket.

And although five came off the next three, Monty Leverett couldn't hit the six required off the final over to tie the match.
