The third week of games in the Hertfordshire 1961 Sunday League saw the start of the Deakin White Champions Cup.
Strafford Arms got off to a flyer with a 9-0 hammering of Luton Phoenix at Toulmin Drive.
Matt Walsh led the way with four while Reece Cameron chipped in with a hat-trick. Sam Doolan and Lee Dykes wrapped up the win in group D.
In group A there was a 4-4 draw between Phoenix and Ebony, the Phoenix goals coming from Alie Bangura, Roberto Rosero, Andrew Cox and an own goal.
Brookmans Park took advantage of the Arms being involved elsewhere to move clear at the top of the Premier Division.
Their third win from three came over Six Bells, Callum Baylis and James Smith scoring in the 2-1 win.
Mermaid picked up their first win of the season, beating Welwyn Warriors 3-2 with a hat-trick from Stephen Maitland, Matthew Taiwo and John Woodward replying for Warriors.
And it was the same score in the Wheathampstead Wanderers derby, the first-team beating the Sharks.
Stephen Buckler (two) and Jordan Cornes scored for the ones, James Cooper and Timi Erinle for the twos.
Two goals each from Cain Keller and Tyler McCarthy, plus one for George Sippetts, gave Welwyn Rangers a 5-3 win against Little Heath in Division One.
Jon Baines and Patrick Dawson-Goodey replied for Heath.
A Zac Goldthorpe double helped Strafford Arms Res to a 3-2 win over Forever Young People. Harvey Scott got the other.
BWSC are top though after a 5-0 success over Six Bells Res. Their four scorers were Robbie Plumb (two), Billy Garvey, Dan White and Michael White.
In Division Two, Alban Dynamo overcame AFC Boots 6-2, Ashley Kingston getting his second hat-trick of the season while Cain Joseph (two) and Louis Batstone got the others. Jacob Jones scored one of the Boots goals.
Harpenden Colts OB’s first match of the season ended in a 6-2 win over St George’s with goals from Jamie Jones (two), Sam Jones, Louis Marsh, and Luke Marsh. Robert Hadleigh and
Ryan Harrington replied for St George’s.
Crown had their first victory when defeating Mermaid Res 3-2 with Paul Allen and Josh
Penning scoring two of their goals. Chuks Oparah scored both for Mermaid.
Phoenix Res and Saints shared the spoils in a 2-2 draw. Michael Bird scored both Phoenix
goals and Ben Martin was one of the Saints marksmen.
Pinewood picked up their second win when defeating Royston Rangers 3-0 with goals from a
Billy Reed brace and a George Milsted single.
Herts Vets seem to be a a team to be reckoned with following their 7-2 win against Wheathampstead ‘89 in Division Three.
Liam Addlesee led the way with three goals followed by a Jordan Carter brace and singles from Robert Gradwell and Callum Robinson.
Andrew Bacon and Daryl Dunbar netted for Wheathampstead.
Cairo Britton and Kieran Shepherd goals couldn’t save Leverstock Green CC from defeat
when going down 3-2 against Stotfold Rovers.
Rose & Crown Mosquito had their first taste of victory, defeating TNF 4-1. Goals came
from David Joyner (two), Mitchell Harrison and Alfie Kavanagh. Jon Tanton scored for TNF.
There was a 4-4 draw in Division Four between Hatfield Comets and Oceans XI.
Eight players were on the scoresheet - Cian Alexander, Elliot Ashby, Tayler Fennel and Sam Lindores for Oceans and Josh Blackburn, Michael Frimpong, Tyler Garnett and Zlatko Murphy for the Comets.
Hatfield Seniors scored their first goals of the season in a 4-1 win over Monday Night FC with Jay Quin (two), Luke Brace and Luke Sullivan finding the back of the net. Emmanuel Omale and Jon Marcos scored for MNF.
Hopfields, one of the favourites for the title brought their goals tally to 22 following their 5-0 win against London Colney United. The goals came from Charlie Battle (two), Nathanael Burke, Tommy Orridge and Joe Patrick.
Phoenix A held onto their unbeaten record with a 7-0 win against Little Heath Sunday Res. Danny Sherman (two), Joseph Curran, Bernard Bradshaw, Jack Williams, Sam Bozier and Sam McCord scored for them.
Royston Rangers Res picked up their first win of the season, defeating Marshalswick Rovers 6-
1.
Jay Williams led the way with a hat-trick followed by singles by Nicolas Curtis, Kensell Ertogrul and Dan Joseph.
